Assessment Updates • This summer the lead teachers reviewed all assessments and added the following: • Important information bolded/highlighted • Lines and whitespace for students to respond • Formatting and size of text was also changed to be more kid friendly
Assessment Updates Continued • In itslearning the following changes have been made: • Assessment questions will now be graded with a 0, 1, or 2 • 0 is Beginning, 1 is Developing, and a 2 is secure • REMEMBER we are assessing the learning objective not necessarily the correct answer • Score is now the only option. (Elementary and Letter Grade have been deleted in each assessment.)
Grades • Overall grades will no longer be used on report cards for grades 4-6. • Teachers will still mark B, D, and S for the competencies.
Exit Tickets • The lead teachers reduced the number of exit tickets required to be inputted into itslearning. Refer to the pacing document for this information. • We will still complete all exit tickets. • Exit tickets have been renumbered in itslearning so all exit tickets should appear in order • Exit tickets are scored with a 0, 1, or 2.
Exit Tickets Continued • The rubric heading has been changed to secure/developing instead of success/needs more practice • REMEMBER we are assessing the learning objective not necessarily the correct answer on exit tickets • Exit ticket solutions provided by Embarc have been added to courses if they were available. • Grades K, 1, 6 are not provided.
Embarc Flipcharts and videos • The Embarc flipcharts have been added to the planner for easier access. • Any shared videos have also been added to the planner.
Copies • You will receive a bound perforated journal for each student for each module. • These journals will include sprints/fluencies, problem sets, exit tickets, and most templates. • You will only need to copy the assessments and missing templates.
Pacing Calendar Discussion • Remember the pacing calendar is a roadmap to get to our final destination.
General Discussion • Meet the teacher/beginning of the year notes for parents • Areas of success from last year • What do we need to improve on or challenges we faced last year? • Questions?
