1st 2nd • Step 3:- Compare starting from the first column (Ones) • We have to pick smallest number first • We have 2 Decimal number 2.3 and 2.9 having same smallest value 2 in its ones place, • so we have to look at next column to its right (Tenths) • 2.3, with smallest value 3 in ones place is 1st. • 2.9, with next smallest value 9 in ones place is 2nd.
1st 3rd 5th 2nd 4th (ii) Next we have 2 Decimal number 3.20 and 3.28 having next same smallest value 3 in its ones place, so we have to look at next column to its right (Tenths). The tenths column are also same so we look the next column to its right(Hundredths) 3.20, with smallest value 0 in hundredths place is 3rd. 3.28, with next smallest value 8 in hundredths place is 4th. (iii) 4.1 , with next smallest value 1 in ones place is 5th Answer:- 2.3, 2.9, 3.2, 3.28, 4.1
Example 4:- Arrange the Decimals in descending order. 2.3, 0.4, 1.37, 0.48, 1.34 Solution:- Step 1:- Write each number in the table with Decimal point column Step 2- Fill empty Decimalparts with 0’s 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
1st 2nd 3rd Step 3:- Compare starting from the first column (Ones) We have to pick biggest number first (i) So 2.3 with biggest value 2 in ones place is 1st . (ii) We have 2 Decimal number 1.37 and 1.34 having next same biggest value 1 in its ones place, so we have to look at next column to its right (Tenths) The tenths column are also same so we look at the next column to its right(Hundredths) 1.37, with biggest value 7 in hundredths place is 2nd. 1.34, with next biggest value 4 in hundredths place is 3rd.
1st 5th 2nd 4th 3rd (ii) Next we have 2 Decimal number 0.40 and 0.48 having next same biggest value 0 in its ones place, so we have to look at next column to its right (Tenths).
