MPH Community Health Track Courses & HEA Electives (21 credits)
Undergraduate Statistics Course Prerequisite • Students with no introductory course in statistics (i.e., those without the word ‘statistics” in the title of the course) will need to either: • Enroll in MAT121- Introduction to Statistics at WCU or take an equivalent course at Community College or other University OR 2. Complete a Statistical Competency Exam- (Administered by Dept. of Health, under direction of Dr. Stacie Metz – email: smetz@wcupa.edu for further information) • Considered if student has previous experience with introductory statistics through other courses that may not appear on transcript • Scheduled at start of Fall/ Spring Semesters. • Score of 85 or higher accepted as replacement of UG statistics requirement
Provisional Acceptance MAT121 Prerequisite If your MPH letter states provisionally accepted ↓ Because you have yet to meet MAT121 prerequisites ↓ But you have taken an undergrad statistics course (with ‘statistics’ as course title) at other university ↓ Please send your advisor an electronic version of your unofficial transcript, that they can forward to Office of Graduate Studies to ensure that you get into courses that have MAT121 as the prerequisite and switch your program status to FULL. Information on Enrolling in HEA520 or HEA526 via MyWCU If YOU TOOK MAT 121 at WCU or had a MAT 121 Course Equivalent Transferred to WCU as an undergraduate student ↓ you will have NO PROBLEM in enrolling yourself in HEA520 or HEA526 via MyWCU
Information on Enrolling in HEA520 or HEA526 via MyWCU If YOU TOOK a MAT 121 Course Equivalent at another university BUT DID NOT have the Course Transferred to WCU during undergraduate studies ↓ MyWCUWILL BLOCK you from Enrollingin HEA520 or HEA526 yourself. • To get manually enrolled in specific course, please email (provide desired section number and student id)- For HEA526- Dr. Metz, email- smetz@wcupa.edu For HEA520- Dr. Leonard, email- rleonard@wcupa.edu & Dr. Sankaran, email- gsankaran@wcupa.edu • Seating maxes will be set lower to accommodate these students blocked by MyWCU.

Recommended Course Rotation to Complete the Degree Within Six Semesters ( TWO YEARS) • In this rotation 3 courses/ semester are taken (except for summer semester) • Recommended for Full- time students/ Graduate Assistants • Time commitments in most cases • 1-3 nights/ week for fall/ spring semester • 1 week/ course for summer semester except for HEA649- ALE I & HEA650- ALE II
