AIM: to practise our photo analysis skills whilst studying RIVERS Features of the lower course • Study the photograph and answer the following questions / tasks: • Label onto the photograph the following features and landforms: • Floodplain • Meander • Oxbow lake • On a separate piece of paper (or the back of this sheet) complete the following diagrams: • A diagram of a meander to show: line of fastest flow, erosion, deposition, river cliff, slip-off slope • Draw a well labelled diagram to show the formation of an ox-bow lake. • Describe the landuse around this river • Using as much evidence from this photo as you can plus ideas of your own • Sketch a typical hydrograph for this section of river • Explain why you have chosen this shape of hydrograph.
