Overview of Local Purchasing • IC 5-22 governs the purchase of goods and services for both state and local governments • IC 36-1-12 governs public works procurement for local governments • Indianapolis/Marion County Municipal Code Section 202- 202 through 204 • Policies and procedures to implement these statutes and ordinances

  3. Small Businesses and Local Purchasing • In 2004, the City of Indianapolis purchased over $302.1 million in goods and services. • Of that amount, nearly $269.5 million or 89% was spent in Indiana. • Further, over $215.7 million or 71% was spent in Marion County and surrounding counties.
