FCAT Backpacks for ParentsInitiative • Introduction • The FCAT Backpack” was developed to meet the needs of English Language Learners and prepare them to pass the FCAT Reading at the third grade level. The backpack includes: • New Tools Textbook: Reading selections with activities geared to prepare students for the FACT Reading • New Tools Activity Book: Activities to reinforce concepts presented inthe Student Textbook • CD: Audio of all reading selections • Story Book: A simple story for students to enjoy reading • Activities: Activities in English and Spanish for parents to assist their children in reading comprehensions • Cassette: A cassette with the entire story for students to listen to while following the reading text • Picture Dictionary: Anillustrated dictionary with words in Spanish and English to facilitate vocabulary development • Dictionary Activity Book: Activities to check if students have acquired the new vocabulary presented in the Picture Dictionary
