  5. Homework • Homework is additional practice for your child to foster student growth and development • All writing homework is identical to the writing done at school. Students should be writing what they think in their journals • Please do not spend more than 20 – 30 minutes a day on homework. • Homework is sent home on Monday and due back on Friday • Show and Tell (optional) Fridays • Formal Homework will begin in October

Dress Code • The following information comes from the Student Handbook • Dress Code – no spaghetti straps or halter style tops • The length of girls’ garments must be as long as her where her fingers touch her legs • No flip flops or heels; students should be wearing comfortable footwear • Students wearing inappropriate attire will be sent to the nurses office for a change of clothes; you may be called to bring a change of clothes at such time

Absences • Please complete an absence form and send it in when your child returns to school from an illness • Vacations must be preapproved (2 weeks in advance) by the principal for any vacations during the school year • If you child is actively ill, please keep him/her home for 24 hours after the last episode to keep from spreading germs

  16. Visitors/Volunteers • Classroom visits must be prearranged with the teacher in advance. For security reasonsthe secretary does not allow adults to roam the building for security reasons. • If you are interested in volunteering to help with special events such as holiday parties, guest reading, etc. please let me know via “I’d Love to Help” sheet. **Already sent home 

Dismissal Procedure • Carpool- side of building; you must stay in your vehicle and drive around the parking lot and pick up your child at the curb • If your child is leaving early, please send in a note in the blue folder • Without a note specifying a different dismissal procedure we must send your child home via the

  18. Snack • Please use good judgment when sending in a snack for your child. We ask that you do not send in chocolate, candy or sugar filled snacks/drinks. • Drinks - children are not permitted to drink soda. Please send in water or juice. Juice boxes should have a straw. Please do not send in thermoses as they have a tendency to leak. • We only have 10 minutes for snack so please send in one snack for your child.
