Curriculum (1)– Requirement(MC, Environmental Management) Requirement: 30 credits & Master thesis Course work Compulsory: 21 credits All students study together. 4 Lectures related to global environmental studies: 8 credits Environmental Economics, Policies, Education & ethics, Ecosystem Environmental management seminar: 2credits (special lectures from outside & one week field work (training camp) ) Internship (≧3 months): 10 credits Environmental management exercise: 1 credit (seminar work with advisor) Selective: Basic subjects on environment management: ≧ 5 credits (Each chair in the school provides one subject (half of semester)) Special subjects on environment management: ≧ 4 credits (more than 100 Subjects provided by GSGES and other schools) 5/16

Contribution to the Consortium (1)– Disaster related activities Contribution of GSGES to the recovery from 2011 East Japan earthquake and tsunami Disaster wastes are being treated and reused for recovery projects. (Takeshi Katsumi) • Water supply & sewerage systems – Damage and emergent alternative measures • Disaster debris – Treatment and reuse for recovery works • Nuclide contamination – Risk assessment and management • Temporary toilet system –No water needed, safe & easy disposal • Preservation and recovery of ecosystem • Post tsunami human resettlement, etc 13/16
