Course Description • CS370 introduces students to basic concepts and methods of artificial intelligence from a computer science perspective, including knowledge representation methods and techniques, Problem solving, structures and strategies for state space search and Heuristic search techniques.
Course Objectives • Learn about the widely applied techniques of logical representation languages and search techniques for problem solving. • Familiarity with different applications of AI such as Robotics, Pattern Recognition, expert systems. • Understand the principles and mechanisms underlying various kinds of intelligent processes • Have an awareness of the philosophical issues that arise within Artificial Intelligence • Have an awareness of key issues in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science that will continue to challenge researchers in the future.

Course Location & Office Hours • Course Location: • Monday 10.00-12.00 ( 361 ) • Tuesday 08.00 - 09.50 (342 ) • Office Hours: • Please see schedule on office door (office # 364). • Other hours by appointment or drop in if the door is open.
Attendance Policies • Students that regularly come to class 10 minutes late will be marked absent. • Students that are regularly absent will be given DN warnings. (See DN Warning Flyer).
Other Policies • Course website should be checked frequently. • Students should read from the textbook. • Late assignments will not be accepted. • All assignments must be completed individually by each student • There will be no Make up exam or quiz • Cheating • Exam • Zeros will be given upon suspicion • Assignment • Easy to detect: both parties get a zero
Class Participation (5%) • Students must regularly come to class to participate in class activities and discussions

Quizzes (15%) • Students will have the opportunity to take three quizzes during the term. • There will be no makeup quizzes.
Major Exam (20%)/ Final Exam (40%) • One Major is worth 20%. • No Makeup exam • Final exam is worth 40%. The final exam will be semi-cumulative (will include most of the chapters discussed during the term).
How to Study for this Course • Read the chapter after the lecture • Try to do all of the exercises & Reflect Questions in each chapter. • Think Critically – ask questions, make notes, and reflect on material. • Practice the test questions on the Companion Website. • Attempt the Assignments properly.
