Major Gods • Brahman – eternal creator and preserver of the world in some aspects seen as the only god • Devas – seen as manifestations of Brahman on Earth • Siva – the destroyer • Vishnu – the preserver
Sacred Texts • The origins of Hinduism were in the Vedas • Polytheistic • ritualistic • Another set of sacred texts are known are the Upnashids • More monotheistic • meditation
Practices • Dharma – duty or righteousness • Karma – moral law of cause and effect • Moksha – oneness with the supreme • Samsara – cycle of rebirth until moksha is achieved
