  2. Starting out • Born July 30th 1970 in London, England. • Began making films at the age of 7 • Used his fathers super 8mm camera. • Used his action figures to make the movies. • Eventually made films with real people • His short film was Tarantella was      was shown on PBS in 1989

  3. Education • Studied English literature at University College London. • Started to make 16mm films for the college film society • First 16mm short film Larceny was shown at Cambridge film festival in 1996 • His other short film was called Doodlebug

Trademarks • Begins his movies and introduces his main characters with a close up of their hands preforming an action • Usually starts films with a flashback from the end of the movie • Dialogue scenes are a wide close-up with a shallow depth of field to blur the background • Main characters are usually men with a goal who face adversity • Films end with 2 main characters discussing the preceding event and what they caused • Ending have recurring theme of justified dishonesty • All films contain major reference to the film before it • Ends films with characters giving a philosophical monologue
