  2. Reasons for 3 year KS4 • Increased time for KS4 to support more challenging new GCSE specifications. • Greater time allocation gives more opportunities to enrich the KS4 curriculum for pupils. • This is the 3rd year running the 3 year KS4 and it has proved to be very successful already.

  9. Science All students will start GCSE on a Combined Science course. The majority of this course is identical to the Separate (Triple) Science course. Students will be selected at the end of year 9 for the Triple course based on the progress they have made up to that point. All other students will remain on the combined Science course. • Separate Sciences – AQA • 3 GCSEs results • (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) • 6 papers each 105 minutes • Suitable for students working at 7s and over only • Combined Science (Trilogy) - AQA • 2 GCSE results (average of Biology, Chemistry and Physics) • 6 papers each 75 minutes • Suitable for all students. Examination Physical Education and Sport: • In Year 9, Physical Education and Sport students will complete the same introductory year being assessed using a Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria. • To ensure students achieve their maximum potential, they will be selected for OCR GCSE Physical Educationor Pearson BTEC Sport during the summer termof Year 9. • There will be clear communication to ensure Physical Education and Sport students are happy. • Both courses are equal value for further education/career.
