The KS4 Curriculum for 2014-16 You have a total of 11 slots to fill • English Language and Literature , Maths, 3 Sciences  6 pre determined • MFL –Spanish, French, Enriched French  it is also mandatory to study at least one MFL • 4 Free choices from Art, DT (RM or G), Drama, Latin, IT, Hist, Geog, Music, RS, PE, other MFL and Private Study

Option subjects • Art and Design (GCSE) • Computing (AS) • D&T Resistant Materials (GCSE) • D&T Graphics (GCSE) • Drama (GCSE) • French (GCSE) • Enriched French (GCSE) • Geography (iGCSE) • History (GCSE) • ICT (GCSE) • Latin (GCSE) • Music (GCSE) • Physical Education and Sports Studies (GCSE) • Religious Studies (GCSE) • Spanish (GCSE) • Study periods (2 per week)

  4. KS4 Curriculum • In KS4 you will study from a choice of 16 options plus the core subjects during timetabled lessons • Each subject is allocated about 2 hours per week • In addition extra curricular activities will take place such as drama productions, textiles clubs and sporting clubs

The Process • Starts now, this evening • Options Booklet has everything your need to know about the process • Parents evenings (16th and 23rd) in January followed by TCD (29th) • Listen to as much advice as you can get • There is no one right way to do this, take your time • Final Option decisions via the webPortal (only via students’ logins) by Jan 31st

Consider this … • Aim to study a range of subjects • page 5 allows you to start planning your GCSE basket • Think about which subjects might help you in the future (if you have a career in mind already) • Information, Advice and Guidance can be sought from tutors, Mrs Wood and Miss Gall • Please ensure that you read and understand the Controlled Assessment information – for a subject that involves CA this information is vital to remember because it will help you plan to avoid clashes in your schedules • Key questions: • What do you enjoy learning about? • What gets you excited when coming to school?
