  2. “I never thought then when I grew up I’d be in a band…” • Bradley James Nowell was born in Long Beach, California on February 22, 1968. • At the age of eleven, Brad took a trip with his father to the Virgin Islands that began his passion for reggae music. • Brad then began teaching himself to play the guitar. • In 1986, Brad graduated from Wilson High School. He attended the University of California, Santa Cruz. Only one semester away from receiving a degree in business, Brad dropped out to pursue his music career. • Joining forces with Eric Wilson and Floyd Gaugh, who he met in Santa Cruz, Nowell created the band Sublime.

  3. Bradley and Sublime The revolutionary Sublime mixed up their punk rage with reggae and ska influences. Sublime played their first show on the 4th of July 1988 at a small Long Beach club Sublime recorded their first album, 40 Oz. to Freedom, in 1992. Sublime signed to MCA for 1994's Robbin' the Hood.

  4. "Life's too short so love the one you've got On May 25, 1996, Bradley died from a heroin overdose, leaving his wife, Troy and their new baby. Rest In Peace Brad’s genius cannot be forgotten. Sublime’s self-entitled album was released after Brad’s death. It sold over 3.5 million copies. Because you might get run over or you might get shot."
