STEM Certificate Program • Notre Dame of Maryland University, in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools, Baltimore County Public Schools and Harford County Public Schools offers a STEM Certificate Program for K-8 teachers. • Classes are offered Fall, Spring, and Summer for two and a half years for those wishing a certificate in STEM education from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Those wishing to receive a Masters degree can take two additional courses. Students receive 3 graduate credits per course. • The third cohort for Baltimore City teachers will begin Fall 2013.

NDMU Master’s Degree Individuals wishing to earn a Master of Arts degree in STEM add: • EDU557 Leadership I • EDU567 Learning Theory and Practice Note: The decision to apply to MSDE for STEM endorsement led to the development of two new courses, Practicum and Implementation of STEM Instruction (working titles). Both courses are in development at this time and will be assigned titles and course numbers.
STEM InstructorsAugust 20, 2013 Workshop Objective: Participants will revise STEM course syllabi to include alignment with Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) standards, Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) STEM Standards of Practice, Common Core State Standards [CCSS], Next Generation Science Standards [NGSS], Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC), and NDMU School of Education Objectives (SEOs).

Next Steps • Matrices will be reviewed to identify gaps in overall program • Recommendations for revisions, if needed, will be made to course instructors • NDMU STEM Coordinating Committee will meet with MSDE staff for technical assistance on endorsement submission process • Revised course syllabi and Standards Matrices will be incorporated into NDMU submission for MSDE STEM endorsement
