September 2012 Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at any point during the year. You can call me at school 780-791-7470 ext. 148 or on my e-mail: Carla.Davidson@fmpsd.ab.ca. Hi! My name is Ms. Davidson and I am going to be your child’s grade three teacher. This is my second year teaching grade three but my fourth year at Greely Road School. I grew up in Drumheller, Alberta and I love to go home and visit often. My parents, my younger brother, and my fiancé's family still live there. This summer, I spent lots of time camping and canoeing with my fiancé Cole and my puppy Nico. I was also lucky enough to attend an education conference in Las Vegas and am excited to use all of the exciting new strategies! I can’t wait to spend the next year learning and growing with you! My Favorites: Food: Hamburgers Movie: Love Actually Color: Purple and Green Hobby: Cooking Sports: The Calgary Flames Book: Love you Forever Scan this code With your smart phone to take you directly to our class website. I will post notes, reminders, and homework. (from the Greely Road website find it under staff directory)
We use a positive behavior support plan in our classroom. All the children are rewarded for their exemplary behavior in following the four classroom agreements: attentive listening, mutual respect, participation, and appreciation. Each morning, the children will start on “Go” (green/happy face) .If a child misbehaves, he/she is warned and reminded and encouraged to make a better choice. If the child continues to misbehave, his/her name is moved from “Go” to “Yield(yellow/straight face). If misbehavior continues, the child’s name is moved to “Stop” (red/sad face) and he/she misses some of the activity and must sit in timeout and fill out the reflection form. You will then receive this form in your child’s pouch for you to sign so that I know you have seen it. Please talk with your child each day about his/her behavior. I have attached a learning styles inventory for you to help your child fill out regarding his/her own learning style. This will help guide my instruction to ensure success for all. Homework is presented in addition to nightly reading and is attached to the front cover of your child ‘s homework book. All work should: 1) demonstrate student’s best effort 2) be neat and organized 3) be completed on time. We check homework around 9:20 each day so students have an opportunity to come see me for help first thing in the morning. *Parent support is important in making homework successful*
