  1. ABSTRACT Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr is one species of Sauropus family, which has been used as lactogogue. The aim of this research is to isolate compound from n- hexane : ethyl acetate (90:10) fraction. The leaf powder was extracted with nhexane to obtain n-hexane extract. The concentrated n-hexane extract was saponified with methanol containing 10% KOH, then extracted with ether. The fractionation of the ether extract was achieved by vacuum liquid chromatography using gradient concentration of n-hexane : ethyl acetate as mobile phase, and yielded eleven fraction (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J and K fraction). The B fraction (n-hexane : ethyl acetate = 90:10) was choosen to be isolated with preparative HPLC methode. And yielded six isolates (B1, B2, B3, B4. B5 and B6). B1 gave a good purity by analytical HPLC which was 99% purity. B1 isolate was identified using HPLC, Spectroscopy (UV-Vis, Infra Red, NMR), TLC and colour reaction for triterpene/steroid. Result showed that B1 isolate is a terpenoid with prediction it belong to tetraterpene family. Keyword : isolation, Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr leaves, HPLC preparative, terpenoid.
