  4. Can youfind information about the regulationsprocess? • Answer: not really • Regulations are “promulgated by appropriate government ministry bureaucrats or other bodies after varying degrees of public consultation”

  5. Looking up regulations • First published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, so that interested parties may submit comments, etc. • After a period of time, final version ispublished in the Canada Gazette, Part II • This is the official publication

  6. Looking up regulations, part 2 • Made or approved under the authority of an Act • format: SOR/2005-120 • Statutory Orders and Regulations

  7. Updatingregulations Consolidated Index of Statutory Instruments • indexes regulations alphabetically by their name and also according to the enabling statutes

  8. Updatingregulations • Check the Consolidated Index of Statutory Instruments • For veryrecentamendments to regulations, youwill have to look through the recent issues of the Canada Gazette, Part II
