  2. Gen 9:20-23 • And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

  3. Mat 24:37-39 • But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

  4. Pro 20:1 • Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

  5. Isa 28:1-3 • Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine! Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand. The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

Isa 28:7-8 • But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

  10. Isa 5:11 • Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! • Woe = Deep distress or misery, as from grief; wretchedness

  11. Isa 5:21-23 • Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

Luk 12:45-46 • But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

  13. Luk 21:34 • And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. • Surfeiting = Overindulgence in food or drink

  14. 1Co 5:11 • But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

  15. 1Co 6:9-10 • Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

  20. Didn’t Jesus…. • Old Law did not expressly forbid drinking. Only when it was to excess. • This is an example from Old covenant times so…………….. • The Old Law made a couple of • exceptions ………………

Leviticus 10:8-10 • And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: • #1 Strong's H 3196 "Fermented wine" • #2 H7941From H7937; an intoxicant, that is, intensely alcoholic liquor:

  22. Leviticus 10:10 • And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; • Could not drink when going in the presence of God

  23. Proverbs 31:4-5 • It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. • Kings and Princes shouldn’t drink at all.

  24. Revelation 1:6 • And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

  25. 1Ti 5:23 • Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. • Luk 10:34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. • Medicinal purposes do not indicate drinking for pleasure
