Pagination Using MS Word for Windows to Insert Page Numbers
Step One • Make two separate MS Word files • One file for the Title Page and Outline • One file for the Essay and Works Cited Page • Open the Essay/Works Cited file first
Step Two • Click on the INSERT drop-down menu • Choose PAGE NUMBER • Select TOP of page • Select RIGHT of page • Click OK and close the dialogue box
Step Three • Choose VIEW drop-down menu • Select HEADERS AND FOOTERS • Move the cursor to the right in the dialogue box by clicking on the RIGHT JUSTIFY key in the tool bar at the top of the screen • Type your LAST NAME • Click OK to close the dialogue box
Step Four • Open the Title Page/Outline file next • Click on the INSERT drop-down menu • Choose to insert PAGE NUMBERS • Change to TOP RIGHT placement • Select OPTIONS • Change to LOWER CASE ROMAN NUMERAL (i., ii., iii.) • Click OK to close 2nd box and then OK again to close 1st box
Step Five • Open VIEW drop-down menu • Choose HEADERS AND FOOTERS • Change justification to RIGHT hand side of page next to page numbers • Type your LAST NAME • Close dialogue box
