  4. THE SYLLABUS • Toensure the commomknowledge flow amongLEAsinvolved in the detection and preventionofradicalisation and V. E. we would like to propose the useof a Syllabus “Knowing Islam to counter radicalism” already developed for the needs of Prison police staff • Thistoolhasbeendraftedbyoneof the mostimportantEuropeanUniversity in the fieldofOrientalStudies • For TRIVALENT we would like to propose a training curriculum on intercultural dialogue and Islam as common knowledge to be disseminated among LEAs

THE SYLLABUS • Whendrafting the Syllabus the authorsaskedabout the most common questions first line staff usedtoaskto the CentralOffices • Thesequestionswereaimed at solving the frequentmisunderstandings staff metwhendealingwithpersonsbelongingtoIslamic culture • Questions are relatedtodaily life (food, prayer, dressing code,…) • The authorsprovided the correctanswers inside the Syllabus in orderto help first line staff in their job • Common and correctknowledgeisneededtobuild positive and reciprocalrelationships

THE SOFT SKILLS • Soft skillsneedtobebasedupon some fundamentalvalues, such are: • Honesty • Truthfulness • Respectfordifferences • Tolerance • Intellectualopenness • Understandingofothercultures • Suchvaluesmustbe part of the personal traitsof the LEAs staff: theymustbeverifiedduring the recruitmentphase

COURSE CONTENT • Some soft skillsrequiredtobe part of a LEA: • Easily express thoughts and feeling • Empathy • Addressingthe needs and expectationsof society, smallcommunities and individuals • Initiative and problemsolvingattitude • Abilitytoengagewithvulnerableindividualssuchasyoungsters • Actingalwaysavoidingstereotypes and prejudices • Leadership capability

  8. COURSE CONTENT 3. PRACTICAL MODULE • Studyof some self-cases / study-casesofproselytism and violentradicalisationexperiencedby the traineesthemselves: theywillexchangetheirspecificexperiences in dealingwithcriticalsituations, tryingtodraft a common operationalmodel

  9. COURSE DELIVERY The coursewillbedeliveredthrough: • Frontallessons • Projectionoflecturesheldbyprofessors and expertsof the topic • Projectionof educational videos • Projection of film clips related to the theme of radicalization • Workinggroups

  10. COURSE DISSEMINATION AND EXPLOTATION The course will finally be available on IT support in order to help all LEAs trainers to deliver it to their staff in their country
