CalHOSA 2013. State Leadership Conference in Sacramento, California. Before we could go on this 5 day event, we had to fill out many forms for HOSA. We had to agree to many codes of conduct that are serious!.

  1. CalHOSA 2013 State Leadership Conference in Sacramento, California

  2. Before we could go on this 5 day event, we had to fill out many forms for HOSA. We had to agree to many codes of conduct that are serious!

  3. We left Wednesday morning (on a school day), and would miss 3 school days & a weekend for this event.

  4. We were headed for our State Capital City - Sacramento.

  5. We stayed at the Sheraton Grand in Sacramento.

  6. After the long drive, we needed our sleep…

  7. This was SVHS’s first State HOSA Leadership Conference. From left to right: Mrs. Pugh, Ramsey Batarseh, Sean Suarez, Mackenzie Dunn, Noemi Solis, Dylan Custodero, Devyn Brittan, Shawna Jackson, Nick Boomhower, Chase newton, Alicia Segura, Ms. Carrigan, Brittney Phipps, Alan Hernandez, Mr. Bradshaw and Mrs. Ellis.

  8. We had to prepare for our competitions…

  9. And then compete!

  10. We met the state officers and national president of HOSA.

  11. Our own Lois & Milton Harrion met us prior to the Opening Ceremonies.

  12. Opening Ceremonies showcased all of the schools. We observed that we need a billboard sign better than Carson and a cheer better than Palmdale.

  13. After a long day, we all needed our rest. California history will be our 12 hour plan the following day starting promptly at 8am. TV? I need to sleep!

  14. We started with a tour of the state capital.

  15. Mrs. Gallant would be proud to see the California History that we learned at the State Capital Building.

  16. What other historical finds are there in Sacramento?

  17. Our HOSA secretary found the Secretary of State building.

  18. The boys found the Auto Museum.

  19. Mrs. Ellis andstudents went to the Vietnam War memorial.

  20. Medics treated the wounded in that war.

  21. Our HOSA president felt like he could talk to those soldiers. (He probably needs to do more historical reading.)

  22. Then it was time for the Firemen’s memorial.

  23. And let’s not forget the women in our California history!

  24. Students were so busy with workshops and Courtesy Corps that we missed many opportunities for photos. Teachers were judging events and officers were voting delegates and busy with meetings. So the best we could do for this day was to get these photos at the beginning of the day.

  25. Some officers found pins and ribbons while working Courtesy Corps. (Yay! We did manage to get this photo.)

  26. Mrs. Ellis judged CERT And we learned that she’s one of the best CERT teachers in California!

  27. Mr. Bradshaw judged “Community Awareness”

  28. And…Ms. Harter, Mrs. Pugh and Ms. Carrigan judged “Biomedical Debates”

  29. Then it was time for Stress management!

  30. On second thought, maybe there is someone to choke!

  31. A manicure, pedicure and shopping for shoes is Ms. Harter’s stress management.

  32. Shopping can work for stress management (unless it’s overpriced).

  33. Nothing beats a good meal with friends…especially when Mama Myles and Ms. Harter are paying for it

  34. And then we celebrated Mr. Bradshaw’s birthday…it was his birthday, wasn’t it?

  35. And what about Exercise? The DANCE! This would be our last activity prior to the Grand Awards Ceremony.

  36. The Grand Awards Ceremony was the last of our activities prior to returning home. “Even though we didn’t get any awards, it was great to see Westlake get their butt kicked for a change.”Ms. Carrigan

  37. Sacramento was nice but let’s face it, there’s no place like home
