  2. Types of software • What is the software: • System software refers to the programs designed to handle certain task. • System Software can be classified into two categories: Utility Programs Operating System

  3. Operating System • Popularly called as the OS, the operating system serves as an interface or a link between various pieces of hardware and the applications. It is the manager and coordinator of all computer activities and operations. • In your presentation you have to list the 4 examples of Operating System.

  4. Utility Programs • Utility software or utility programs are designed to help manage, maintain and control the computer hardware, OS and any other computer software. They are necessary routine tools to keep personal computing at peak performance. Examples of utility programs are virus scanners, disk cleaners, backup software, and network managers. • In your presentation list some of utility programs with its pictures.

  5. Application Software • Application software are programs that enable users to accomplish a certain specific task. It is primarily aimed at supporting or improving the computer users work, employing the capability to perform efficiently the task that one wishes to perform. Typical examples of application software are educational software, business software, databases, computer games, computer-aided design, and computer simulators. • In your presentation list some of Application software with its pictures.

  6. Programming Software • Programming software, also known as programming tools, refers to a class of programs or applications designed to assist computer programmers in writing, debugging and maintaining computer programs and applications.
