  1. I Surrender My Body Our Theme for 2013 is “I Surrender All” We take the 1st Sunday each month and explore our theme This morning we focus our minds on the physical body that God created

  2. I Surrender My Body Certainly the human body is a wonderful creation To study it is to marvel at all that it is capable of God certainly knew what he was doing when he created the body

  3. I Surrender My Body As God calls us He wants our all, not just a portion Our Bodies are no exception; they belong to God, for He created them Surrendering our bodies to God requires 3 things...

  4. I Surrender My Body A Godly Purpose • When God created us He had a purpose for our bodies in mind • It was God’s will that we use our bodies in service to Him • As God’s people, we were created for this (Eph. 2;10)

  5. I Surrender My Body A Godly Purpose • This is why Paul urged us to present our bodies as a livingsacrifice (Rom. 12:1) • It is our “reasonable service” to God

  6. I Surrender My Body A Godly Purpose • Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we are to Glorify God in them (I Cor. 6:13, 19-20) • We are to magnify (enlarge) Christ in our bodies (Phil. 1:20)

  7. I Surrender My Body A Godly Purpose • Even Christ left us an example of his servant spirit (Matt. 20:28) • Christ Surrendered His body on the cross in obedience to the will of God (Phil. 2:8)

  8. I Surrender My Body 2. The Right Direction • In surrendering our bodies, we must be sure that we are using them in the right direction • We have 2choices in how we use OUR physical bodies

  9. I Surrender My Body 2. The Right Direction • We either use them for Good or for evil • We either present ourselves as instruments of righteousness or unrighteousness (rom. 6:12-13)

  10. I Surrender My Body 2. The Right Direction • We are onespirit with the Lord, therefore we should walk with him (I Cor. 6:15-17) • That means using our very bodies to carry out His Purpose

  11. I Surrender My Body 3. The SupremeMotivation • It certainly is biblical to surrender our bodies to the Lord’s service • Do we give much consideration to the motivation behind it?

  12. I Surrender My Body 3. The Supreme Motivation • Let us give consideration to a verse that we often glance by • “...though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing” (I Cor. 13:3)

  13. I Surrender My Body 3. The Supreme Motivation • How many times do we find ourselves doing things for others simply out of duty? • Perhaps we do it because we don’t want to get in trouble

  14. I Surrender My Body 3. The Supreme Motivation • Our motivation does matter to God! • If motivation doesn’t matter, then explain the difference between Matthew 5:16 and 6:1-4
