  1. Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Submission Title: [Adjacent channel interference due to the DAMI spectrum] Date Submitted: [11 May, 2008] Source: [Zhiguo Lai and Abbie Mathew] Company [NewLANS, Inc.] Address [43 Nagog Park, Suite 200, Acton, MA 01720, USA] Voice:[1-413-313-4172; 1-617-283-1363], FAX: [1-978-849-8005], E-Mail:[zlai@newlans.com; amathew@newlans.com] Re: [] Abstract: [Calculation of adjacent channel interference due to the DAMI spectrum.] Purpose: [Response to questions brought up during April conference calls.] Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the IEEE P802.15. 2. Objective • Resolution of comments brought up during April conference calls: • Overview of the DAMI scheme (filter, signal spectrum, etc.) • Adjacent channel interference due to the DAMI spectrum NewLANS

  3. Overview of the DAMI Scheme (1) • DAMI scheme • Step-1: split the input binary data into two “rails” • Step-2: apply AMI coding to each rail • Step-3: combine (i.e., add) the two rails • Constellation mapping NewLANS

  4. Overview of the DAMI Scheme (2) • An equivalent representation – class-IV partial response (or modified duobinary) • DAMI signal spectrum filter response (e.g., SRRC) spectral shaping function NewLANS

  5. DAMI Signal Spectrum (Baseband) square-root raised-cosine filter with T = 0.2894 ns (corresponding to a cutoff frequency of 1.728 GHz) NewLANS

  6. DAMI Signal Spectrum (RF) single-sideband signal 57.24 GHz 59.4 GHz NewLANS

  7. Assumed Waveform • Square-root raised-cosine pulse with T = 0.5787 ns (corresponding to a cutoff frequency of 0.864 GHz) and β = 0.25 – 2x oversampled and 13 taps NewLANS

  8. Two Scenarios DAMI Assumed Assumed DAMI (A) (B) NewLANS

  9. Adjacent Channel Interference • Assuming same signal power in both channels • Each pilot power is 25 dB below the integrated SSB signal power • Define the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) as the ratio of the desired signal power to the interfering signal power, both captured by the desired filter.
