International student conference „Safety in local communities-legal and criminological perspectives“’, Podgorica., 4 April 2018 • The duty of the police is to protect the community against unwanted disorders, crime and its effects, and fear of victimization. • Such form of cooperation enables the police and residents of a particular community to jointly identify and solve safety and security problems (crime, drugs, fear of crime…). • The neighborhood and the community are people who are either causers or the victims. • Important role of decentralized organisational structure of the police for improving local security.

Cooperation in the assessment of the effectiveness of the police
Conclusion • The youngest population is the most willing to cooperate. • Both mid-generation classes are equally willingness to cooperate with police. • The oldest population is the least willing cooperate with police. • People who live in a small village are more willing to cooperate. • People who live in a small town are least cooperated. • Male are equally distributed to cooperate with the police. • More than 40 % of female population are not willing to cooperate.
