Capacity building is a fundamental part of REDD+ for the Guiana Shield • A goal/objective in itself • A tool for reaching other goals/objectives of the project Introduction: The role of capacity building Capacity building: The process of developing someone’s ability to do something and to sustain this ability in the long term Provide lasting tools Provide lasting skills
Improve the understanding of REDD+ • Get access to and learn to use related methodologies and tools Capacity building on different levels
Four channels for capacity building: Country/state level support ”à la carte” Working Group meetings 150 000 Euro 70 000 Euro Capacity building opportunities 30 % of project budget Intersessional meetings before SC Training and technology transfer 150 000 Euro 216k + 80k Euro
