Characters In Film & Fiction: Taking The Good With The Bad (SUGGESTED APPROACHES) Aims: • To increase students’ vocabulary. • To accurately describe characters’ qualities as displayed by their words, actions, motivations etc., Options: • Focus on one major character and draw on various qualities across the slides to describe that character. (post reading/viewing) • Focus on one major character and draw on various qualities across the slides to describe that character. (building up an on-going picture of the character while reading/viewing) • As above (1 & 2) for a range of primary & secondary characters. • Take each slide in turn per chapter/s read or scene/s viewed and discuss who displayed any of the qualities mentioned in that slide. • Have student add to words on each slide by using a thesaurus. • Any approach that would suit you and your students.
