Engineering Help Needed Cell 280 • Activities • Bring the following frames into adjustment: 1618, 1670, 1695, 1719, 1769, 1794, 1815, 1836, 1857 • Frame contours and twist do not allow attach fittings to align with follow on Assemblies (Floor Grid, WWTR Rails, Side Guide Rails, Blower Assy) • Agreed during rate summit (6 mos ago) this was an issue • Cost ($250k) and lead time (8 -10 weeks) prohibitive • ELR’s: • ELR 073916 to open Tol Margins on 1st 4 STA is biggest help (approx 40%) • ELR 076865 at STA 1769, 1815 and 1836 Next biggest help (approx 25%) • Summary • Frames 1795,1769 and 1836 account for the largest factor in –M Fittings, we need them to be aligned to the OPB, and follow on assemblies (no twists) • OR • ELRS 073916 and 076865 must be worked, executed and come through CIB in less than 20 ships for Floor grid installation to meet rate.
Engineering Help Needed Cell 275 • Activities • Section 47 Floor Grid Intercostals Class III Holes. • Incorporate improved datum and tolerance structure for floor grid assy. • Increase MBD shim allowance between floor beam and frame fittings at STA 1618, 1644, 1670 and 1695. • ELR’s: • ELR 073916 Angularity Tool. • ELR 072169 – Floor Grid Instl • ELR 072438 – Floor Grid Assy • ELR 073916 – Floor Grid Assy • Summary • Floor beams are being installed at an angle that has the potential to be outside of engineering requirements. Ensure angularity requirements of Floor Beams are met to provide a stable build for the Floor Grid Assembly. • Locating floor grid properly per requirements to facilitate successful FA&D join results in excessive gaps between floor beam and frame fittings. • Current Floor Grid Assy tolerances fail to produce a product that will comply with end item requirements during installation.
