  1. Cell Engineering Update

  2. Contents • Update to location of BPMs • Design of RF cavity vacuum flange • Cavity aperture (diameter 40 mm, no offset) • Magnet update • Injection line geometry into EMMA

  3. Update to BPM locationsDrg. 207– 10130 B 25 mm Inside of ring 25 mm 95 mm Clockwise Beam Outside of ring 156 mm

  4. BPM Detail Standard vacuum chamber for 2 cells. Circular cross-section 20 mm 48 mm 4 x BPM bodies, accurately machined and welded into vacuum chamber

  5. 27 mm Cavity Flange Design EVAC seal Normal KF flange arrangement with chain clamping ring EVAC gasket Pt No: 34.142.140-az Seal material soft aluminium Seal has an outer aligning ring Leak rate = <1x 10 -11 mbar litre s-1 Temperature range = -271°C to 150°C Flange material stainless steel 316L 37 mm for equivalent CF flange 10 mm saving per cell required to fit in field clamp plate, larger BPM and increased internal size of RF cavity

  6. EVAC Flange 3D

  7. RF Cavity Thinner flange Bore increased from 38 mm to 40 mm to remove offset 40 mm 40 mm 86 mm 110 mm

  8. Magnet Update

  9. Magnet Changes Type D • New A/turns /pole 5224 • Increase in pole width from 102.5 to 110 mm • Reduction in minimum back leg dimension from 80 to 50 mm • Coil length along the pole increase from 76 to 109 mm Type F • New A/turns /pole 3446 • Increase in pole width from 64.5 to 73 mm • Reduction in minimum back leg dimension from 50 to 35 mm • F coil now not identical to D. Small length reduction in coil along the pole from 76 to 74 mm • Both magnet coils based on a 6 mm x 6 mm conductor with a 3.5 mm water cooling hole running at 13 A/mm2 max.

  10. Injection lines into EMMA 1 2 3 • Angles to straight axis (red) • 78° • 46° • 32° • -21° • -39° • -68° 4 5 6

  11. Prototype Magnet Procurement • Tender specification document and accompanying drawings reviewed earlier today • Going out to 3 companies; Tesla, Oxford-Danfysik, Sigma-Phi • Return of bids by 27 April • Place contract by 11 May • Asking for delivery of 1st magnet by 24 August (15 weeks) • 2nd Magnet by 7 September (17 weeks)
