Immunity • Natural Immunity – from mothers milk or blood. • Acquired Immunity – developed in life. • Active: a person is exposed to an antigen and the body produces antibodies to fight it. • Passive: a person is given blood which contains the antibodies. The body can not produce new antibodies so effects are short term.
Immunity • Vaccination – weak or dead antigen that allows body to develop antibodies. • First developed by Edward Jenner (cow pox)
