Can you budget CCSG funds for support of a CTSA or other shared resource (SR) managed by the institution or another entity within it? Yes! The CCSG has supported SRs that are not managed by the cancer center for a number of years. Some centers have only institutionally managed SRs or a mix of center and institutionally managed SRs, and these have fared just fine in review.
Can you budget CCSG funds for support of a cancer center SR if there are institutional SRs available? Yes! In cases where the quality, accessibility, extent or type of service required is not available from the institutional SR and cannot be attained by supplementing the institutional SR with CCSG or other funds, you can establish your own. Be prepared to justify the need.
Can you merge a CCSG peer-reviewed SR with a CTSA or institutionally managed shared resource during a non-competing period, rebudgeting CCSG funds? Yes! Contact your program director for further information.
What level of funding is appropriate to request from the CCSG for an institutional SR? It should be proportional to use by cancer center members, taking into account other overarching sources of support , charge backs, etc.
Are we required under CCSG Guidelines to provide subsidies or discounts to cancer center members using SRs? No! The merit of an SR is not dependent on provision of subsidies or discounts to center members.
If you have other questions: Consult the Guidelines. Consult the program director for your center.
