Mangroves • Can be removed without resource consent from: • areas that were free of mangroves in 1996, in: • General Coastal Marine Zone • Significant Ecological Areas where the ecological values are not associated with mangroves • Significant Ecological Areas that are identified wading bird habitats • Standards for method of removal, disposal and timing of removal
Marinas, moorings and anchorages Marina zone • existing marinas, provides for activities - integrated land and sea provisions Mooring zone • consolidate moorings in zones, avoid moorings compromising use of other areas • existing moorings outside mooring zones now need a resource consent Anchorages • avoid new moorings in safe anchorages and cruising destinations • 28 day limit on anchoring in one place before a consent is needed (unless it is for navigation safety or emergency response)
Aquaculture • Precautionary approach to new species, techniques, locations • Avoid adverse effects on other uses/values • Avoid reverse sensitivity effects • Recognise need for land-based facilities and infrastructure • Consolidate while avoiding cumulative effects • Discretionary activity in General Coastal Marine zone • Prohibited activity in SEA-M, ONF
