  2. Introduction • Architects are designers. • They design structures. They are designers. They utilize both the construction theory with art principles. Each building is different because each architect put a personal touch on their designs.

Introduction • One can debate that they influence the time period of their living or the time period influences there creations…what do you think? • They not only impact those who utilize their structure but those who are are surrounded by them. Can you • The structures created may include bridges, damns, as well as buildings.

  4. Task • Within this assignment there are three major tasks that this assignment will consist of. • 1st Task: You to research two architects, create and design a drawing of a structure combining your architects styles. • 2nd Task: You and your partner are to Present your architects to the class as well as the drawing you created, with a detailed justification of your design. • 3rd Task: You and your partner are to reflect on the design you created in comparison to your architects as well as the others presented within the class.

Process • 1st Task: • You and your partner are to choose two different architects from the following list: • Buckminster Fuller • George Nelson • Charles and Ray Eames • Ludwig Mies van der Rohe • Frank Llyod Wright • William McDonough • Helmut Jahn • Frank Gehry • Antonio Gaudi • I.M. Process Task 1 continued… For each architect you are to answer the following questions…. • What style they use. • What influenced the architect? • Who you meet may influence you.. • Who did they influence? • What impacted them? • location? • Where you live is a big impact towards who you become. • People? • The people who surround you the most impact your thoughts the most. • What architecture derived from him? (what was created due to him?)

Process Task 1 continued… Questions Continued… • What architect is similar to the one you are researching? • What impact did your architect leave? • What are is your architect known for? • What was the architect’s impact in the architectural field? • When did they become a “famous” architect? • When was their first building built compared to the building that was built when they became famous? • When and what is the first building that was known as a masterpiece? (a basic timeline of their work) • What materials would they known for using? • Would the architect be used today in today’s society?

  8. Process Task 1 continued… You are to create a detailed drawing. • Design a unique structure based upon a combination of the primary design elements each of your two architects are known for, or used in their buildings. • Answer the following questions while completing this drawing.

Process Task 1 continued… Questions… • Do the design elements of these two architects ever overlap, conflict or agree with one another • Did you make compromises or choose another design element of a single architect while ignoring the design element of the other? Why? Defend your position. • Are you creating a third unique design? Would your architect agree or disagree with your design?

  10. Process • 2nd Task: • You and your partner are to prepare a presentation discussing your two architects individually. Present pictures supporting the principle design elements the individual architects are known for. Discuss the influences and impacts of these architects as well as some historical background information. • A poster board presentation of the architects is needed. Don’t forget the architect’s name and a picture of the architect. • Present your own design based upon the architectural designs these two architects used. Interpret your design and reasons why your chose them to the class.

Process • 3rd Task: • You and your partner are to reflect on the drawing you have created as well as the presentations of your fellow classmates. • After watching the presentation of your classmates did you discover anything similar to your design? • Was your unique design similar to another architects design? • If so why did you think that occurred?

  20. Evaluation This project will consist of 2 grades. • First grade: Your presentation 75 points and your poster 25 points • Second grade: Your drawing 40 points and Your reflection points 30 points and the research you have done 30 points
