  2. Who are we? • “Excellent” rated school with 340 student learners K-5; 22 - 4 year old preschoolers • 53 staff members • Strongly supported by our parent community • Strong PTO – raising over $60,000.00 last school year - $8,000.00 for technology

  3. Historical Look at Peabody • November of 2005 – District approved a nearly $40,000 grant for a new laptop Dell lab at Peabody. Previously one of the most outdated technology labs in the district. First SMART Board in the building – in the computer lab. • August 2006 – May 2007 – my first year as a principal and first year at Peabody. Technology was not a focus. Technology teacher also brand new to position and to the building. Did begin to look at potential grant sources and brought another SMART Board into the building – placed in teacher classroom. Began to look at modeling the use of technology with staff to create interest. Wireless LCD projector and laptop into staff, PTO and PAC meetings.

  4. August 2007 – May 2008 – formed our first Technology Committee. Worked with Dan and parent around a nearly $100,000.00 proposal to bring LCD projectors, document cameras into every classroom. While this did not come to fruition – PTO did raise excess funds and gave $8,000.00 (along with 2 family donations) to put white board skins, projectors and document cameras in 1-5th grade classrooms. 2 additional SMART boards were purchased. • August 2008 – staff development around document cameras and technology within the literacy framework. 3 staff attended TIE in June for the first time.

  5. Much enthusiasm has been generated within the staff and parent community to raise $$ for a eeE wireless mobile lab by the end of this year. • Teachers are also experimenting with podcasting and photo story and posting to our web page. • Our IC has now created podcasts for our PLC Late Start Days – highlighting our work for parents – accessible on our web page. • Utilize our web page weekly to inform our parents. PTO manager is an email based informational service to highlight upcoming events here at Peabody.
