Cigarettes Alcohol Drugs
Cigarettes Hi, I’m mister Cigarette, and I am going to teach you about the effects of cigarettes, and smoking, and how it is seriously bad for you.
I am full of tobacco, which when inhaled is really bad for your body. Here is a picture which shows you the most common effects of smoking cigarettes like me.
As you could see, smoking can affect lots of parts of your body, and enough to kill you. The most common parts of the body that are affected are the heart and lungs. This can easily lead to heart attacks, strokes and other bad things that I wouldn’t like to talk about.
But lets have a look at how smoking cigarettes effect your lungs in particular
Smoking can lead to Emphysema, which is an effect of smoking that effects the alveoli in your lungs. Emphysema leads to the second diagram below, instead of having big alveoli that can breath normally and easily, they collapse, become weak, making it difficult to breath easily.
So as you can see, smoking is very serious. These are only a few of the things that could happen, so… STAY AWAY!
Drugs Because drugs are of such a wide variation, we are going to talk about cannabis in particular. Cannabis has recently been changed from a class C drug to a class B drug. This makes it an illegal drug, and it’s an illegal drug for a reason!
Cannabis Cannabis is the drug that is used most in Britain. It is made from a plant called Cannabis Sativa and can be smoked or even eaten. It affects the brain, lungs, eyes, and mouth and causes cell damage in the brain, lungs and the genitals. Cannabis is a depressant and hallucinogen (can create mental disorders, can result in hallucinations).
Alcohol Alcohol plays a huge part in many peoples lives whether they drink one glass a week, day, or every 30 minutes for a certain amount of time. A lot of people don’t realise the dangers of alcohol, and even though it is not illegal, it can still cause serious problems. Alcohol is a depressant and affects the organs the brain heart and the liver. Also, it slows down nerve impulses reducing reaction speeds (reflexes).
