About Our Schools Catlettsburg ‘s mission statement, “Csatlettsburg Elementary faculty and staff , along with parents and member of our community believe: Reaching Every Student’s Potential Everyday Creates Tomorrow’s Successes. Catlettsburg Elementary is located in Boyd County, Catlettsburg, KY Enrollment average is approximately 250 with roughly 50% Free/Reduced Lunch Summit’s mission statement, "The path for students to realize their dreams begins at Summit Elementary School where the faculty and parents working together educate the whole child – socially, emotionally, and academically.“ Summit Elementary is located in Boyd County, Ashland, KY Enrollments average is approximately 500 with roughly 40% Free/Reduced Lunch

About Us • Deana Sexton • Sheldon Clark High School, Inez, KY, Class of 1993 • Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY, Class of 1998, BS Chemistry (Teaching) • Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, Class of 2003, MA School Counseling • Science Teacher, Boyd County High School, Ashland, KY 1998-2004 • School Counselor, Summit Elementary, Ashland, KY 2004- Current • KSCA Executive Board Officer since 2006 in positions of Secretary and Elementary VP
Our Ingredients • 2009, Catlettsburg and Summit Elementary teamed up to “share” media specialist, Mrs. Cole • 2010, A revised alternating week schedule was developed and implemented • 2011, First collaborative lesson based on The Leader in Me Program and Information Literacy • 2012, Development of additional collaborative lessons to include art lessons
New Recipe • Include more humanities classes in collaborations • Implement or introduce lessons that collaborate with grade level units • Formative Assessment (Exit Slips) using Open Ended Questions and/or Short Answer in a Reflection Journal for each student to improve communication with classroom teachers concerning lesson topics
