  2. What is K-POP? Korean pop music There are many different popular styles of Korean music, though it is often divided into two main sections.

  3. The cuter, “girlier” / “pretty boy” style…

  4. And the more American, hip-hop inspired style.

  5. Firstly, let’s take a look at the more “cutesy” style. • SNSD, or Girls’ Generation • Group dances • “Aegyo” • Coordinated outfits • Light-hearted lyrics

  6. Next, let’s look closer at the second, hip-hop influenced style. • Big Bang • Beat-focused • Unusual music videos, less focused on appearance • Less structured dancing • Varied lyrics

  7. There is also a smaller (but very popular) section of K-pop that focuses on humor.

  8. This comedic style includes: • Fun, light-hearted lyrics • Humorous dancing • Wacky outfits • Memorable music videos

  9. A perfect example of this sub-section of K-pop is, of course, Gangnam Style.
