Deep Space Research Project How to develop a research question
The Question • Research starts with a question. • The key is to be not too specific or to broad • Choose something that interests you!
For example • When will all the planets be aligned? • Too broad or too narrow? • How fast are all the objects in the solar system moving? • Too broad or to narrow?

The Questions • Design two or three potential astronomy research questions • Don’t be too broad or too narrow! • Find something that interests you • Use your text book or the internet to inspire your investigation
Finding Sources • Select one of your research questions and use the iPads to locate, evaluate, and take notes from (at least) three reliable resources. • Locate: Use the iPads to find sources • Evaluate: Determine if the source is credible (look into the author/authors of the information) • Take notes from the source with a full citation and in text citation for future writing construction.
Putting it all together • You need to compile your research into one written piece (paragraph up to page) • Use in-text citations for your writing • Have an abridged works cited at the end
