Definition of the Ipad The first Ipad was released in 2010, April 3rdby the Apple Company. It is a high tech portable screen that has a touch sensor for controlling and microchip that stores data and gigabytes for different music, videos, notes and downloadable icons called ‘apps’. Apps are short for applications that can be music, games or helpful guides and almost anything. There is a limit to how much you can store, and you must delete other data in order to make room or more ’bytes’ available. The Ipad was shortly made after the ‘IPhone’ as a larger version and was named a ‘Portable computer’. Although not being able to make calls like an IPhone would, or being able to do most of the features that the computer would, it still skyrocketed Apple sales and many game companies requested to put their game on this new platform as an ‘app’. Minecraft for example. Many generations of Ipads have been released in the past years including the ipad 1, 2, 3, air and now mini, with plenty more to come. Ipads are now popularly used to surf the internet wirelessly.
How The Ipad can be used in a classroom The Ipad can be used in a classroom so each student can look at the same thing instead of peering at a tiny laptop screen. It will serve as a personal screen for you to study right at your desk and take notes that will be stored safely in the device. It can be functional as a camera as well to capture images and important information for assignments that are looking for visuals. The Ipad can email work to your teacher and you can even set up virtual classrooms for your students. How The Ipad could be misused The Ipad could be misused as a hacking device to create something called a ‘Breakout IPad’ in which is used to purchase items from the app store for free. (most of the time) The breakout Ipad has a different version of the app store which can purchase not before available apps that serve good use to the user. This includes: Display recorder which records the screen of the Ipad to make high quality videos.
How much it would cost for 330 students Its math time! So lets say that we want the latest edition of the ipad and so 330 students can each use them individually without sharing. The latest version of Ipad (the ipad 3(excluding the Ipad mini)) costs a total of: $398 average. $398 x 330 = $131,340. (wowzers) Better start saving up that cash.
A possible set of rules for the Ipad’s use • The Ipad is to only be used when a teacher or authorised adult has given you permission. • No downloading of applications or overusing internet. • When using the Ipad, you must be supervised by an adult or teacher. • The Ipad is not to leave the classroom unless taking home for homework.
