Lesson 3 A New Country
Colonists from the country of England built a place called …. Jamestown. • Jamestown was named after King James of England. • This was already home of the Powhatan Indians. • Later, Jamestown became part of the colony of Virginia.
Another group from England were the Pilgrims. They built a colony called Plymouth. Later Plymouth became part of Massachusetts.
More and more colonists came to America. Soon there were 13 English colonies along the Atlantic Ocean.
