Why? • To determine water stress on crops • Save producer time and money • Increase yield
What is it? • Irrigation management system • Developed after 20 years of research • USDA Patented BIOTIC process • A way for the producer to: • Save water • Improve irrigation control • Save pumping costs • Save MONEY
How does it Work? • Sensors collect canopy temperature • Information sent every 15 minutes • Base Controller collects all the data • Web service reviews the data • Determines if water stress is present
How does it Know? • Input from base controller entered online • Optimum temperature is included online • Input from crop compared to optimum condition • Information from comparison determines amount of stress
Signals • Signals can be received via cell phone • Allows producer to make real time decisions • Detail of signals can very from: • IRRIGATE/DON’T IRRIGATE to • Complete environmental data for each sensor
Web Service • Each producer has web service access • Menu showing all systems/ crops allows for easy access • Producer can download graphs and data • Shows status of sensors and weather
Graph of Data Graphs such as this one can be accessed and downloaded through the web service Display one or all of your crops Graphs can be updated every 15 minutes
Data Table Data tables online show all your information Other information not on this table: Ambient temp. Stressed Temp. Threshold
Installation • Relatively easy • Installation includes: • Positioning sensors in field • Positioning and connecting base station • Antenna placement • Connection of other sensors to base station • Power up process
Sensor Installation • Make sure 4 AAA batteries are installed • If used with a center pivot place in straight line with the base of the pivot • Closest sensor should be 100-300 feet from pivot • Furthest should be 600-1000 feet away
