What is e-verify? E-Verify is the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Citizenship and Immigration Service’s employment eligibility verification program In contracts that exceed the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (currently $150,000), Federal Contractors are required to use E-Verify as the means for verifying employment eligibility of certain employees. Requirements under FAR 52.222-54 As an educational institution, we may choose to verify only employees assigned to the contract, whether existing employees or new hires. For all new employees, we must initiate verification within 3 business days after the date of hire For each existing employee assigned to the contract, we must initiate verification within 90 calendar days after date of contract award or within 30 days after assignment to the contract, whichever date is later.
