The wall of separation between church and state is a metaphor built on bad history and worse law. It has made a positive chaos out of rulings and it should be frankly and explicitly abandoned. Churches were only added to the 501c3 section of the tax code byLyndon Johnsonin 1954.Johnson offered this to the churches as a "favor" but it came with strings attached. What he had in mind was to silence the Church as part of his political agenda.
