Rockwall ISD E-rate Request History (http://tpesc.esc12.net/eratedata/applicantdetail.aspx?cdc=199901)
Findings for RISD Technology Funds • RISD has not had any E-rate funds disbursed in 2009 or 2010. • In 2008 the district requested $560,341.09 and of that amount only $ 294,605.89 was disbursed. • When examining district budget data, it appears Rockwall ISD has been able to fulfill a great amount of its budgeting needs with local funding. Conclusions: Rockwall ISD has requested a very small amount in the past 12 years in comparison with other districts that are similar to its size. (http://tpesc.esc12.net/eratedata/default.aspx)
Conclusions- (cont’d) • RISD is a district that does not rank as one in great financial need. • The tax base and community are a major source of technology funding for RISD. • RISD’s re-evaluation of its needs in 2008 included the goal of researching additional ways to fund technology, including grants and corporate partnerships. • RISD has implemented plans if funding needs arise. www.aacfcu.com/home/fiFiles/static/images/new..
Conclusions- (cont’) Rockwall ISD has been able to utilize its Long Range Plan and local funding to achieve the Advanced Tech Stage of Technology Development. (http://starchart2.esc12.net/AdvancedSearchReport).
Recommendations: • RISD must use their STaR Chart data to plan and achieve Target Tech rating in all areas. Funding must be re-allocated for these areas in need and prepare for future expenses. (http://starchart2.esc12.net/AdvancedSearchReport). • RISD must be prepared for economic downturn and waning public approval if the local economy doesn’t continue to support funding technology in the district. The current plans of securing corporate partnerships for funding must be focused on and implemented to prepare for this possibility. (RISD Technology Plan 2009-2011).
