Biography • Born Melvin Shane Sparks, in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 25, 1974 • Began dancing at the age of 11 • Two siblings, sister’s boyfriend leaded him to dancing as well • Career started with several projects,shows, and movies • Famous on So You Think You Can Dance as a judge and a choreographer • Arrested many times

  4. Influences on him • His sister’s boyfriends death required him to have a way in which he could express himself and forget about everything else • Michael Jackson’s hip-hop

  5. Influences surrounding him • His parents didn’t agree with his decision • In his time, dance crews were popular, making him start to dance too • He got arrested multiple times because of the influences of hip hop

  6. Who he’s influenced & how? • Influenced other choreographers to be unique and genuine • Dancers by looking at his moves and being inspired and making them creative • Influenced people to start dancing

  7. What is his legacy? • He was one of the choreographers who made hip-hop “famous” • One of the best judges on several shows • One of the best choreographers

  8. Why is he an influential choreographer? • His style is different • In the beginning he didn’t take classes, he just danced • He’s unique • He was a hard worker, he had innovation with dance, creative, his genuineness, and his determination
