Routines for turning in homework(check online – go to clever: https://clever.com/in/luhsd • Check the answers to your homework with my notebook and online at clever. This is not a time to mark your paper, but just to do a quick check and check for understanding for yourself. • Label your homework with your name, homework number and the page and exercises assigned at the top. • Turn in your paper on the folder labeled “homework #2”, there is also a folder labeled “contract”, place your contract there. • Have a seat when you are done and take out your student journal, we will continue any exercises we didn’t finish from the day before.
Quiz next Target 1A: I can describe and identify transformations of parent functions. Study with your homework. Study with each other.

Example 1 Algebra 2 Section 1.3 Notes Example 1: The graph shows the distance Asteroid 2012 DA14 travels in x seconds. Write an equation of the line and interpret the slope. The asteroid came within 17,200 miles of Earth in February 2013. About how long does it take the asteroid to travel that distance?
Example 2 Example 2: The graph shows the distance Allison hikes in x hours. Write an equation of the line and interpret the slope. How long does it take Allison to hike 14 miles traveling at the same rate?
Example 3 The graph shows the remaining balance y on a car loan after making x monthly payments. Write an equation of the line and interpret the slope and the y-intercept. What is the remaining balance after 36 payments?
Example 4 Two prom venues charge a rental fee plus a fee per student. The table shows total costs for different numbers of students at Lakeside Inn. The total cost y (in dollars) for x students at Sunview Resort is represented by the equation . Which venue charges less per student? How many students must attend the prom for the costs to be the same?
Example 5 Kelly and Kim are both babysitters. Kelly charges a flat fee of $10 plus $6 per hour to babysit. The table shows the total hourly fee that Kim charges to babysit. Who charges more per hour? How many hours must Kim and Kelly babysit for their total fees to be the same?
