  2. There was a decorated general witha heart of gold, that likened him toall the stories he toldof past battles, won and lost, andlegends of old a seasoned veteran inhis own time

  3. On the battlefield, he gainedrespectful fame with many medalsof bravery and stripes to his namehe grew a beard as soon as he couldto cover the scars on his faceand always urged his men on

  4. but on the eve of a great battlewith the infantry in dreamthe old general tossed in his sleepAnd wrestled with its meaninghe awoke from the nightto tell what he had seenand walked slowly out of his tent

  5. all the men held tall with theirchests in the air, with the courage intheir blood and a fire in their stareit was a gray morning and they allwondered how they would faretill the old general told them to go home

  7. But the men stood fast with theirguns on their shoulders not knowingwhat to do with the contradicting ordersthe general said he would do his ownduty but would extend it no furtherthe men could go as they pleased

  8. not a man moved, their eyes gazedstraight ahead till one by one theystepped back and not a word was saidand the old general was left with hisown words echoing in his headhe then prepared to fight

  10. The Dispatch The dispatch has three members in their band, Brad Corrigan, Pete Heimbold and Chad Urmston. They have been performing, writing, and recording since 1995. They started off in Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. They have a reggae and funk feel to their music. They first started spreading there music by going to colleges and academies through the Northeast. Then they started to spread to the east coast and all over and soon everyone started loving the dispatch. They have released four albums; all of these are on their own label, Bomber recorders. In July 2005 The Dispatch came out with a movie called The Last Dispatch this was their final 12 days as a band and it tells the story of how they became a band. The band got back together in 2007 and went on another tour. Back

  11. Veteran A veteran is someone who has served in the armed forces Back

  12. Metaphor Heart of gold is a metaphor because it is comparing two things without using like or as, this is saying that his heart is like gold which means that he is nice and does not have a mean bone in his body back

  13. Rhyme respectful fame with man medals of bravery and stripes to his name is a rhyme because fame and name are rhyming words back

  14. Medals War medal, Atlantic Star, 1939-1945 Star,Pacific Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star back

  15. Tents In WWII they used Tents for shelter and to sleep in some of which include, Individual tents, Wall tents, Fly tents, Fire Resistance tents back

  16. Great Battles • There were many great battles during WWII some of which were the Battle of Normandy, Battle of Atlantic, Battle of Britain, Battle of Midway, Battle of El Alamein, and the Battle of Iwo Jima back

  17. Hyperbole With the courage intheir blood and a fire in their stare is a hyperbole because it is exaggerating that there is courage in their blood and fire in their stare because there is not courage in their blood and fire in their stare back

  18. Repetition Take a shower, shine your shoes you got no time to loseyou are young men you must be living is considered repetition because it is repeated several times within the song back

  19. Guns • There were many guns used during WWII some of which included handguns, Rifles, Sub Machine guns, and machine guns back

  20. General • An officer ranking above a lieutenant general and below a general of the army or general of the air force Back
