CrimCity - Objectives • Extend the concept of CrimCity to other member states • Propose design or behavioural solutions • Develop a computer based interactive learning experience • Develop a network of teachers and schools in the partner countries to promote the use of VE as an educational tool • Create a website to support and disseminate the results • Share experiences of street crime and develop innovative learning tools
OUTCOMES • A collection of VEs - 1 interactive product multiple elements • New curricula materials – • A tool to support community empowerment • Teacher Training (workshops & packages) – 6 new packages
Outcomes – cont’d • Involvement and Training of community groups and agents • 5 local workshops • 3 international workshops/conference • Website: use of VEs & street safety and citizenship • Models for VEs: tool for learning and teaching strategies • Pedagogical and didactical framework • an improvement in key skills for at least 120 beneficiaries aged between 14-19. (Assessment tool) • Development of VE learning activities ICT across the curriculum • Articles and publicity (min 20)
Partners’ Roles/Responsibilities All • implement a new technique for looking at issues of street crime and design with local partners • test the technical content of the VE and be involved in testing with local students (exc Cz) • input into the VE content and translation • work with local teachers, and provide information for teacher training materials
Partner Roles – Cont’d Salford University & GMP • promote best practice and lessons learnt nationally and internationally • identify application of VE to curriculum Universitat Potsdam • evaluation of school materials • develop teacher training materials • lead on evaluation with support from all partners
Partner Roles – Cont’d IFS • documentation of development and implementation process of the learning activities • research into the learning processes in virtual (3d) environments • raising awareness of street crime more widely by giving access to the CrimCity VE to a broad public, including pupils, teachers, politicians and interested people on a large 3d-environment (Cave) • live collaboration Cave-to-Cave
Dissemination • Web presence: use of VE in schools – all languages- hosted by IFS - accessible by the public All partners • Leaflets and posters distributed to students, teachers, parents and professionals in the fields of educational technology describing the project, and its outcomes. Crim City Workpackages Workpackage 1 Design Stage • Workshop one at Salford University. All partners to participate in design exercise • Develop local partnerships • Provide partners with materials and training • Devise framework for reporting results • Revise workplan and detailed responsibility
Crim City Workpackages Workpackage 2 Case studies and practical experience • Partners undertake a paper based exercise in respective states with local partners • Salford team to provide support and advice to partners with regard to recognising differences between local partnerships • Develop framework for the VE applications, content and interactivity
