  2. Developmental Characteristics of 4’s!Emotional • Your child is growing and changing! It can be helpful to have an idea of what most four-year-olds can do. • Feels and shows strong emotions • Demonstrates increasing self-control over impulses • Wants approval and praise from adults • Has a vivid imagination and never-ending curiosity • Takes pride in accomplishments. • Aware of how others feel about them • May not always be honest about their actions/ prone to exaggeration

Developmental Characteristics of 4’s!Social • Wants to play with others and have friends, yet may lack necessary skills • May have a “best” friend • Plays well with two or three other children • Is willing to take turns • Difficulty seeing the world through another’s point of view • Likes to make believe and dress up • Spends time making things • Wants to help adults with chores • Think in literal and exact ways • Comfortable with CLEAR and PREDICTABLE schedule • Always remember each child is different!

Review Classroom Expectations • Review rules- • I follow the directions the first time. • I share and take turns. • I walk while inside. • I keep my hands, feet, and other objects to myself. • I raise my hand and wait to speak. • Consequence- • “Take a Break” chair • PBIS- Information in Parent Handbook.
